Few things can compare to our love of cats. The unconditional love and companionship they offer are like no other. In honor of our feline friends, this month, your favorite framing shop is acknowledging International Cat Day on August 8th with three ways you can contribute to the cause!

What International Cat Day Is All About

The day was first created by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) in 2002 to raise awareness about the well-being of cats and promote their protection. International Cat Day is not just a time for cat owners to pamper and spoil their beloved pets; it also aims to draw attention to the issues cats face globally. These issues include stray and feral cat populations, animal welfare concerns, and responsible pet ownership.

How to Participate in International Cat Day

Adopt a Cat

If you’ve been waiting for a sign and are in the place to care for a cat, adoption is a great option and can be a deeply fulfilling and meaningful experience. Beyond the unconditional love they offer, cats have a unique way of bringing calmness and tranquility into our lives. Their gentle purrs and soft presence create a soothing ambiance that also helps reduce stress and anxiety.

The bond you build with your feline companion is no less than a rewarding journey of trust and companionship. By providing a forever home to a shelter cat, you save a life and contribute to the larger cause of animal welfare. Embracing the responsibility of cat ownership teaches us patience, empathy, and the value of nurturing another living being!

Make a Donation to a Cat Charity

If you have the means to do so, donate to a non-profit organization or your local shelter! It’s important to note that donations don’t always have to be money. If you have things like cleaning supplies, food, blankets, leashes, bedding, and even toys, anything can make a difference.

Volunteer at Your Local Shelter

As fun as pampering your own cat can be, it’s also important to help out other cats in need who don’t have a home. Animal shelters are always in need of volunteers to care for their fellow four-legged friends. This includes tasks like cleaning, feeding, bathing, and playing with the animals, among other things.
